IMA Internships

The student seeking an internship experience must be Junior standing. It is the responsibility of the student intern to schedule a meeting with the faculty sponsor in the IMA Program. Once an Internship experience has been reviewed by the faculty sponsor, the Student Intern must initiate paperwork on Handshake to register for credits.

Handshake Instructions

Brief Description of Seminar Requirements: Draft at the start semester an Internship Report document with your goals for the internship. Schedule a meeting with your on-site supervisor and identify challenges and final deliverables that will be presented at the end of the internship based on your learning objectives and client needs. Throughout the semester, upload bi-weekly work journals to Moodle. At the end of the internship, the intern will present in a public setting to the client on or off campus. At the end of the internship, upload a final internship report in PDF format to Moodle.

Evaluation Process: (To be completed by faculty sponsor) Review biweekly work journals, schedule an on-site visit to observe the intern in her work environment, and attend and evaluate the final end-of-internship presentation in addition to the final PDF report.
Faculty Sponsor’s Statement: (To be completed by faculty sponsor) This internship will be a key component of the educational goals of the student to work with real-world clients through an off-campus nonprofit or on-campus office. This internship will allow them to hone skills on a series of client-based projects in a public setting, considering the client’s needs. The intern will also get the opportunity to sharpen their communication and technical skills within a practical setting to prepare her for the real-world post-graduation.
