POE: Digital Media
In When I first came to Juniata, I wanted to use my creativity to learn more about digital art and media, and basic digital media classes really solidified that for me. I love being able to create something of my own and see it used in everyday life. It has also given me the ability to make friends that have similar interests and goals, as well as meet people within the community.
In my time here, I have developed skills in multiple facets of the Adobe suite. Most recently, I have found an interest in video creation and have made some promotional materials. I have led projects and have been a working member of several teams. I am the president of the Juniata Creators Club, and before I was president, other officers and myself planned, coordinated, and executed a 2-hour student film night at The Clifton 5 Theatre in downtown Huntingdon.
A great experience I’ve had in the Juniata IMA program is leading Juniata All In project. I was able to work directly with the client and my team created several videos to their specifications. I was able to use all of the technical media skills I’ve learned so far, as well as learn some important lessons about dealing with clients. The experience I’ve had with the All In project has really solidified my career path of being an entrepreneur. What I’ve learned about the business side of digital media and what I have learned how to do technically is going to help immensely in any business venture, even if I do not end up exclusively in a creative area.
