POE: Multimedia Production and Analysis
Integrated Media Arts is just as it implies. The program encompasses many different forms of media. I chose this POE because I have always enjoyed working with many different types of media. I didn’t want to be tied down to one specific thing. The IMA program gives its students the freedom to experiment and combine many different forms of art which I really enjoy.
My background prior to coming to Juniata consisted of being homeschooled. Juniata and the Integrated Media Arts program created a welcoming and inclusive environment for me, as well as other students who didn’t have the typical K-12 public school experience. I was able to explore with my abilities and create the learning experience I have always wanted.
"I enjoyed the freedom the IMA program gave me, so I could combine many different forms of art."
During my time at Juniata, I was able to hone in on what specific elements of the Integrated Media Arts program I enjoyed the most. In order to not be tied down to one specific medium, I chose to individualize and create Multimedia Production and Analysis. The analysis portion of my POE is to encompass the communication and art history courses included in my program. I believe that these courses are vital for any practicing artist. I gained the ability to critically analyze and understand the media I create.
The Video Production Team granted me a position to delve deeper into multimedia production. This experience allowed me to create relationships with other people like me, who enjoy creating and manipulating video. The VPT creates such a welcoming environment. We are able to cooperate on projects, and also inspire each other daily!
My journey within the IMA program is very fulfilling. In fact, my work was recognized by Vox.com, a journalism website that has been my biggest inspiration! Each video created by their team represents their uniqueness in both style and approach. The summer prior to my senior year, I was an intern at their New York City office. My dream is to continue working there after graduation.
