What I love about the IMA program is in creative and media creation- due to its exceptional compatibility with a diverse array of career paths in the realm of media. The beauty of this POE lies in its versatility, as it equips students with the skills and knowledge to seamlessly align with a broad spectrum of professions that involve various forms of media. From film production to digital marketing, graphic design, journalism, and more, creative and media creation offers a strong foundation that can be applied to virtually any field related to media.
When exploring to wanting to change my POE sophomore year, I was drawn to the IMA program due to a the free ability of the creativity of this program. You’re able to hone in on what you want to specialize on in media aspects and research it. In this field, it’s crucial to curate a portfolio that not only showcases your abilities but also reflects the limitless creative possibilities that this discipline offers. A strong portfolio, brimming with diverse and impactful work, is the key to distinguishing oneself in a highly competitive industry. One of the things that truly excites me about creative and media creation is its boundless nature. This program isn’t confined to a single, narrowly defined career path. Instead, it serves as a gateway to a multitude of creative professions across various fields. Whether it’s producing captivating films, designing visually stunning content, or crafting compelling narratives, this major allows me to explore a wide spectrum of opportunities that align with my passion for creativity and storytelling. In essence, I chose this major not only to develop a robust portfolio but also to embrace the endless creative possibilities it brings, spanning a range of job opportunities.
I couldn’t be happier with my journey at Juniata and the classes I’ve taken in creative and media creation. These courses have been an incredible source of personal and professional growth. Over the course of my education, I’ve had the privilege of engaging in a multitude of creative projects and classes, from producing short films to creating content for YouTube, experimenting with drone videography, composing music, podcasting, web design, live streaming, photography, game design, public speaking and even experiencing the world through travel. This program has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of various media forms while keeping me grounded in the fundamental knowledge needed in the field of media. Each class I’ve attended has been an enriching experience. I’ve left every class with a valuable piece of work to add to my portfolio and keep for personal accomplishments as a creator.
"As a creator, I value my work and only seek to expand the eyes of others to see something more. Something that is Beyond Film..."
Moreover, the secondary focus on communication classes within the program has been instrumental in equipping me with crucial insights into the deeper side of the media industry. It’s been eye-opening to delve deeper into the art of storytelling behind advertisements and understand how these concepts are applied in real-world scenarios. Everything I’ve learned has not only been beneficial to my work but has also enriched my overall creative experience.
Currently as a senior and my hometown is Pittsburgh, I am looking to take up possibly a job at Carnegie Mellon University with their social media team. But I am also currently looking at KDKA, WTAE, QVC, and a few other broadcasting stations based in Pittsburgh. Being in Business design allowed me to start my job search.
