POE: IMA with a secondary in Marketing
My POE is the perfect combination of my interests. It promotes individuality in each of its courses and there is a diverse community of students with different talents, which fosters a great work environment to grow and learn together through various projects throughout our time here.
I chose IMA with a secondary in Marketing because it was the perfect combination of all my interests. I love the interdisciplinary nature, and it felt to me like it would be a great way to get a well rounded education in a field that challenges me creatively. I love that I am challenged in each of my courses and that my professors encourage my individuality.
Since declaring my POE, I have been able to work on a number of projects such as video production, website design, social media, publication design, and vector illustration. My favorite IMA experiences are the various client-based projects with community partners I have had here at Juniata.
I have had both good and bad experiences with clients, but both outcomes have provided me the opportunity to learn valuable lessons in a real-world environment. These experiences will help me in my ideal career of being able to work for a nonprofit or mission focused company in the future. The IMA program courses that have introduced me to work with community partners have influenced me to care about the client and their mission. Overall, I want to do good work that matters.
