POE: Information Technology with a secondary in IMA
I found my interest in digital media creation in my sophomore year, and Juniata has afforded me the opportunity to pursue new ways of storytelling and creating compelling multimedia approaches in expressing my creativity. I have been able to work on many design projects and refine my skills in the areas I am most interested in.
I discovered that I am very interested in graphic and website design, and IMA has allowed me to explore that in so many ways. I have been able to do client-based projects, which has given me real world scenarios to work in. I have gotten to work with numerous programs at here at Juniata. One of the biggest things I have gotten to do since I have been here was building a fully functional website for the ACHIEVE Program, which is a health literacy program supported by Huntingdon County, Juniata College, Huntingdon Area High School, and AmeriCorps VISTA to educate high school youth to live healthier lives.
This opportunity helped me find out my area of interest in web design and refine my skills in using content management systems to build websites. More importantly, the internship allowed me to gain hands-on experience working with real clients and learn how to address their needs sustainably. Because of how influential this project was for me, it really has cemented my goal of wanting to become a web designer.
Here is the ACHIEVE website: www.juniata.edu/achieve.
I also worked on the IMA website to help do some redesigns: www.juniata.edu/IMA.
