I love that IMA exists within the intersection of traditional art and practical design. I’m allowed to study and practice what I love while learning about practical applications of art and design in the real world.
I chose to study IMA because I immediately felt drawn to the program as an artist. I was very lucky to learn and practice what I love while learning about practical applications of art and design in the real world.
I found my first experience with client work in the Community Design Lab course to be very fruitful. It was somewhat awkward, I wasn’t entirely sure what I was doing at the time but the experience itself was irreplaceably valuable and applicable to client experiences that would follow. Having a guiding hand and the support of a classroom, I was able to get my foot in the door of working with clients, and what I learned carries over endlessly to my current client work.
