POE: Marketing and Design
During my time at Juniata, I have had so many valuable experiences that will stick with me through the rest of my life. I have always found myself paying attention to my visual environment, and it has led me to so many real-world opportunities alongside so many partners within our community.
I chose to study Marketing and Design as my individualized POE in the IMA program because I have always loved to create and design (this is now offered as a POE in IMA and a secondary in Marketing). I had originally decided to pursue a major in marketing, but the IMA program really drew me in because it allows me to pursue a creative field as well that I find exciting. I love the real-world experience that IMA has afforded me with working with the numerous community partners that I have.
One of my most meaningful experiences here has been working with Cookies for Caregivers in spring of 2021. I got the opportunity to redesign their brand, creating a new logo and visual style and formulated a branding guide for the organization to use for future marketing purposes
I truly loved the experience of designing for a real brand and it became one of the most important projects in my portfolio. I also have been able to work on projects that I am really passionate about.Once I graduate I am looking to work as a Graphic Designer in Marketing and hope to eventually work as a Marketing Creative Lead.
While studying Marketing and Design, I also play for Juniata’s women’s golf team. In addition to the design work I have done in my courses, I worked as a Juniata Associate for Sports Information where I designed content and graphics for their social media platforms, as well as print and other marketing materials.
