I love the collaborative environment that naturally forms within the IMA program’s courses. Not only was I able to develop my identity within these mediums but also apply my skills to real world experiences. I am very passionate about esports, and Juniata has given me more opportunity within that field than I could have imagined.
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” – Hunter S. Thompson“
While at Juniata College I was afforded the opportunity to pursue a passion within the esports program beginning early in my freshman year. I’ve built the media of the esports program to be well respected among the greater collegiate esports community and as a result have been hired by outside universities to apply my talents with their programs.
I enrolled at Juniata College specifically because the school had decided to fund the esports program and hire a program director to oversee competition in esports titles. I have been an active follower of esports since 2012 and was able to live my dream and now launch myself into an industry I would have had no accessibility to without the opportunities afforded to me by Juniata College. The past 4 years have been a beautiful struggle filled with learning, improving, failing, and overcoming obstacles related to my media work surrounding the esports program. This made my college experience.
I would like to pursue working within collegiate esports further and possibly transitioning into roles within the amateur and/or professional esports industry. I also am holding a marketing position within my family business acting as a website designer/moderator, social media manager, and media producer. I hope to chase my dreams in documenting the stories of esports teams throughout my 20’s like I have wanted for years.
