POE: Digital Media Production with a secondary in Entrepreneurship
I have always been influenced by social media, specifically YouTube. This is really pushing me towards wanting to develop my creativity in various ways and finding my own style of storytelling.
I chose to study Digital Media Production with a secondary in Entrepreneurship because I have always enjoyed films and platforms like Vine/YouTube where I fell in love with those styles of storytelling. This coupled with my mother’s words, “Never work for anybody else, own your own business and work for yourself”, is what motivated my decision to study Entrepreneurship as well. Since then, I have had a drive and passion for producing story driven videos and films. The IMA program has allowed me to develop these storytelling abilities, creativity and leadership skills.
Because of the IMA department and the Digital Media Studio (DMS) I’ve had the opportunity to produce many types of videos – YouTube style content, interviews, short films, product advertisements, cinematic videos, social media and travel videos. One of the biggest experiences I’ve had at Juniata is getting to travel to Costa Rica through the Ways of Well Being course. The course taught me how to surf, and most importantly how to prioritize my health. This is going to benefit me greatly as I go into YouTube, directing and acting where workloads can become overwhelming.
